DAAPP Policy

Program Objectives

  1. Provide a drug-free workplace and assure a safe, healthy work environment.
  2. Adopt and implement a program to prevent the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by employees.
  3. Reduce poor or indifferent job performance and/or rule infractions.
  4. Provide assistance toward rehabilitation for individuals by informing employees and supervisors about the dangers of drug abuse, including information about:
    • Applicable legal sanctions under local, state, or federal law;
    • Health risks associated with the use of illicit drugs and the abuse of alcohol;
    • The College’s policy pertaining to drug-free workplace;
    • The availability of assistance and confidential services offered through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP); and
    • Penalties that may be imposed upon employees for drug abuse violations occurring at the workplace.

Policy

The unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession or use of a drug or controlled substance or alcohol on College property, while on duty, while in or on premises or property owned or controlled by the College, or while in vehicles used for College business is strictly prohibited. Administrative Rule 6.1202.02 Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program (DAAPP)6.1202.02.1 Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program (DAAPP) (G/P) Drug Free Schools and Communities Act and Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program. Use of alcohol at an authorized College function, in the course of official College business, or at an authorized College site, which adversely affects job performance or may adversely affect the health or safety of other persons is prohibited.   Distribution of a drug or controlled substance obtained pursuant to a prescription, except by duly licensed and certified persons, while on duty or while in or on premises on property controlled by the College is prohibited. The College will offer an Employee Assistance Program for any employee needing aid with respect to drug or alcohol abuse. In addition, the College will offer drug-free-awareness and prevention of illicit use of drugs and abuse of drug or alcohol workshops and seminars for all employees. Employees believed to be under the influence of an unlawful drug or alcohol will be counseled.
