What is an HR Business Partner?

FAQ
How do I get in touch with my HR Business Partner?
Supervisors are encouraged to reach their HRBP directly if they know who they are and have their contact information.
Employees who have questions or want to report an incident pertaining to their own employment are encouraged to submit an HR Mojo ticket to get the most accurate and timely assistance.
What if the HRBP on my campus is not the HRBP for my division?
All of our HRBPs are available to provide a first-level assessment of your need and facilitate its assignment to the appropriate party in HR to assist.
Are Mojo Tickets mandatory over direct contact with HR employees?
It is not mandatory to enter a Mojo ticket. However, calls and emails to the HR department (at 512-223-7572) and hrsupport@austincc.edu) may be converted to Mojo tickets.
Calls, emails, and chats directly to HR Home Office teams or HR personnel may not result in timely responses, as they are primarily used for internal purposes.
Having the bulk of inquiries logged in Mojo allows us to identify, report, and improve areas where we can provide more responsive service.
Mojo tickets will result in contact to the requestor within two College business days.
We currently average one business day and have a 100% 5-star rating among those who have reviewed our service!
What happens if my Mojo ticket gets “ghosted” or I need to escalate my issue?
Please call 512-223-7572 or email hrsupport@austincc.edu if you need to escalate your case.
What if I want a concern to remain confidential?
Information shared will be handled with professional due diligence and the highest level of privacy allowable.
When confidentiality is critical, employees are encouraged to contact the Ombudsperson or the Employee Assistance Program.
What’s the difference between the Business Partners and the Ombudsperson?
While there is some overlap in that both roles advise employees on issues that may be affecting their job performance, talking to the Ombudsperson is completely confidential. The Ombudsperson does not even keep records of conversations with employees. The BPs, on the other hand, will listen to the employee and then help determine a course of action, which may include bringing in supervisors or other parties.
Can I get some guidance on hiring and hiring committees?
The BPs will be happy to help, or to point you to someone who can. HR is currently working on a training program for supervisors. In the meantime, you’ll find a number of hiring aids here.
When will my BP be on campus?
The BPs have a regular schedule for visiting their campuses (see chart above). Be aware, however, that meetings and other events may alter that schedule.
