RAVE Alerts: Emergency Instructions
- Active Shooter: Confirmed by Police, an active shooter on or near campus.
- Quickly move to a secure location.
- If a secure location is not available, hide behind large objects.
- Turn off any lights or electronics.
- If the shooter enters the room, be prepared to fight back with any objects available.
- Shelter-In-Place Types
- Police Activity in Area (Lockout):
- Stay indoors, if possible, and away from windows.
- If outside, move to a safe location, such as a building or other secure area.
- Do not come to campus or leave during a Shelter-In-Place for police activity in the area.
- Severe Weather:
- Move to a safe area of the building, such as an interior room or lower level (See your Emergency Egress Map).
- Stay away from windows, doors, and exterior walls.
- Listen for updates and follow any instructions from authorities.
- Do not come to campus or leave during a Shelter-In-Place for severe weather.
Examples of RAVE Messages
- Active Shooter: ACC Emergency Alert: [Campus] Confirmed by Police an active shooter on or near campus. Police are responding. More to follow. Do not come to campus.
- Shelter-In-Place Police Activity in Area: ACC Emergency Alert: [Campus] should SHELTER- IN-PLACE due to heavy police activity in the area. Do not come to Campus.
- Shelter-In-Place Severe Weather: ACC Emergency Alert: Severe weather [Campus]. Seek shelter inside a sturdy building at the lowest level possible. Do not come to campus.
