Green Pass

Fall Green Passes will be available to request online starting August 11th.


Getting Your ACC Green Pass:

Green Passes are available to students enrolled in ACC credit classes, Adult Education students, and ACC faculty and staff to ride CapMetro services for free! Continuing Education students are not eligible for a Green Pass at this time.

Digital Pass: Submit your Digital Pass request from the Green Pass Request website.  You will receive your digital pass within 2-business days. 

  1. Install the “Umo Mobility” app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store on your phone with your ACC email and select CapMetro as your transit agency. You must activate your account BEFORE requesting a pass.
  2. Request your pass online and allow up to 2-business days to receive your pass in the app.
  3. Your pass will appear in the “My Wallet” section of the Umo Mobility app. Simply show the QR code and your ACC ID as you board the bus (scan at front of the bus) or rail (show when the validator comes around).

Physical Pass: Can be picked up at your preferred Campus Manager’s Office with your ID. (View Campus Manager’s Office locations). This card is reloadable and you are responsible for keeping it between semesters. If the card is lost or stolen, you will need to pay the $25 Green Pass Replacement fee to receive a new physical card.  

  1. Request your pass online.
  2. Stop into the Campus Manager’s Office at any campus during business hours to receive your reloadable fare card.
  3. Once it’s issued, it will take up to 2-business days for your semester pass to be uploaded to the card.

Ride Capital Metro Services For Free!

The ACC Green Pass (transit pass) offers unlimited rides to class, work, and anywhere else on the CapMetro transit system for one semester.

Green Pass riders must show an ACC ID card upon request.

What’s Included:

Bus: Just tap your Green Pass at the fare box while boarding the bus (Including Express and Rapid Routes). Check out CapMetro Bus routes!

Metro Rail: Skip the hassle of traffic and travel from downtown Austin all the way up to the ACC San Gabriel Campus on the 32-mile rail route.

Pickup Shuttles: Traveling just a short distance within one of the CapMetro Pickup Zones? With the Pickup App (iOS/Android) and your ACC Green Pass you can request an on-demand, shared ride service to take you anywhere within a service zone for free! (English Tutorial) (Una Tutorial en Español) – Select “Pass” as your payment type.

Park & Rides: There are 16 Park & Rides and transit centers around the Austin-metropolitan area where you can park for free and hop on the bus or rail. 

Metro Access: Access is a demand-response, shared-ride service for people whose disabilities prevent them from riding the other bus and rail services. For more information about Metro Access eligibility, please contact the eligibility staff at 512-389-7501 or eligibility@capmetro.org.

Using a Digital Green Pass

Bus/MetroRail riders: Activate your digital pass on your phone before you get on board the vehicle. Scan the QR code at the front of the bus and show your ACC ID to the bus driver or the rail fare inspector. 

Using a Physical Green Pass

  • Bus riders: Tap your fare card at the validator box and show your ACC ID card while boarding.
  • MetroRail riders: Tap your fare card at the validator box if there is one available or show the fare inspector when they come around to ask all passengers.

Who's eligible for a Green Pass?

Green Passes are available to students enrolled in ACC credit classes, Adult Education students, and ACC faculty and staff.

I require the use of MetroAccess services. How do I request a MetroAccess Pass?

The Metro Access Pass is available to those who are in need of additional accessibility services. To be eligible for this pass type, you must be registered with CapMetro. For more information, please review the MetroAccess Rider’s Guide and contact the MetroAccess eligibility staff at 512-389-7501 or eligibility@capmetro.org if you are unsure of your eligibility status.

The MetroAccess pass is a MONTHLY PASS, not a SEMESTER Pass. To request a Metro Access Pass, please add your Metro Access ID on the Sustainable Transportation request page. We highly recommend the digital pass that can be accessed on your phone. If you choose the monthly paper pass, it will be distributed at the Cap Metro Transit Center to those eligible and approved ACC students and employees.

I dropped all of my classes. Can I still use my Green Pass?

If you are no longer actively enrolled in ACC, your Green Pass is deactivated.

How long will my Green Pass remain in effect?

The Green Pass is valid for one semester. You must order a new pass each semester.

Where can I use my Green Pass?

The Green Pass can be used for Local, Express, MetroRapid bus services, MetroRail, and the on-demand Pickup shuttle services. 

To receive a monthly MetroAccess pass (eligible users only), please register your MetroAccess number when you request a Green Pass from the Green Pass Request website. MetroAccess service will be activated within five business days. Your monthly pass can be used on all regular services covered by the Green Pass. Please show your ACC ID and MetroAccess ID when asked.

I got a new phone, but my digital pass doesn't show up on my new phone.

ACC Green Pass is allowed on only one device, please contact greenpass@austincc.edu to move your digital pass from your old phone to your new phone.

I lost my Green Pass. Can I get another one?

If your Physical Green Pass is Lost/Stolen, you may choose to switch to a Digital Pass for free the first time you lose your pass. To receive a replacement Physical Pass, you will need to pay the $25 (non-refundable) Green Pass Replacement fee. Please go to ACC Green Pass Replacement to submit payment and the lost pass will be deactivated. 

My Green Pass is damaged. Can I get a new one?

A damaged pass can be replaced at no charge. Present the damaged pass to staff in the Campus Manager’s Office; contact greenpass@austincc.edu for more information.

Can I share my Green Pass with my family?

No, this program covers only ACC students, faculty, and staff.  An ACC ID card must be shown upon request. If you misuse your Green Pass, you may lose Green Pass privileges.

Can I only use my Green Pass to get to an ACC campus?

You may use the Green Pass anywhere and at any time on the CapMetro system.

How is the Green Pass program funded?

ACC’s sustainability fee funds the Green Pass program.
