Campus Sustainability Month

October is International Campus Sustainability Month!

In October, join the Energy and Sustainability Office in celebrating some of the exciting sustainability initiatives throughout the District. 

Check out the calendar of events below. All events are FREE and open to ACC students, faculty, and staff. RSVP may be required for some events.

Fridays- Volunteer Fridays at the Farm

No RSVP required!

Beginning in October, join the ACC Agricultural Sciences every Friday for a chance to get involved with the Student Farm! The farm gate will be open from 9:00-12:00 for any interested individuals to stop by, tour the farm, and get their hands dirty with a variety of volunteer tasks. The only requirements to join each week is a valid ACC ID, proper sun protection, water, and a mindset of respect and safety at all times. Questions? October 16th – Zero Waste Cooking Demo by the Culinary Arts Department

RSVP to attend in-person (limited capacity) or join the livestream via Zoom

Join us in-person or online for a lunchtime demo at Highland to learn 3 different recipes for using a whole chicken and creating Zero Waste in the kitchen! Chef Ortiz will be cooking and sharing  information on how to prevent waste in the kitchen, composting at ACC, and the benefits of shopping local produce! Samples will be available at the end of the event.

October 18th – Tour the Rooftop Solar Array at the San Gabriel Campus

Join the Energy Conservation Manager up on the roof of the San Gabriel Campus to learn more about solar and ACC’s commitment to renewable energy.

*The solar tours are limited to ACC students, faculty, and staff over the age of 18 and requires an online RSVP to attend.
