Distributed Leadership Implementation Work Group

Three colleagues discussing a project in a modern, sunlit lab.

The Distributed Leadership Implementation Work Group (DLIWG aka “the DillyWig”) is designing and implementing a more sustainable model for leadership across academic departments and divisions that supports transparency and consistency, and recognizes the unique needs of departments.

Work In Progress:

  • Develop a transparent and objective process for determining appropriate release time according to key department characteristics
  • Development of assistant dean structure
  • Development of assistant department chair structure
  • Posting of senior instructional operations coordinator roles to support chairs and deans
  • Partner with the Faculty Senate and Academic Affairs leadership to update the Administrative Rule on faculty workload

Our Goal: Build a leadership model that supports long-term sustainability, clarity, and belonging.
