Workplace challenges can negatively affect team dynamics and an individual’s sense of belonging. To address these concerns, the ERO frequently refers employees and managers to the following resources. These resources aim to improve communication and provide support during the initial stages of addressing a workplace concern.
Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is often referenced as a 24/7 resource for individuals in need of counseling services. However, many may not be aware that ACC’s EAP administrator, Deer Oaks, offers a variety of additional services, all at no cost to employees. These services include:
- Manager Assist– A free, confidential, and independent service to help supervisors recognize concerning employee behaviors and help the team run more smoothly overall.
- Life Coaching– Establish a vision, goals and an action plan for personal and professional success with a coach. Follow up sessions, calls and ongoing supportive email communication for progress check-ins maximize your potential.
- Monthly Electronic Newsletters– Employees and supervisors can access monthly e-newsletters covering a variety of topics including health and wellness, work/life balance issues, conflict resolution, leadership, and more.
- Legal and Financial Assist– Consult with professionals that can support a variety of legal issues or access unlimited consultations with financial counselors or access a variety of educational resources online. These concerns oftentimes weigh heavily on employees and affect their performance in the workplace.
Informal Resources
The Office of the Ombudsperson serves as a confidential, neutral, informal, and independent resource for all staff and faculty in the Austin Community College district. The role of the Ombudsperson is to listen to faculty and staff concerns, help identify next steps, and discuss resources.
HR Business Partners were established in 2024 to act as strategic advisors and experts on HR processes and services. They offer coaching and consulting on employee relations and, as advocates for employees, work to foster commitment by ensuring fairness, ethics, and equity in all people-related processes and practices.
Employee Wellness Program strives to provide opportunities within a supportive work environment for employees to improve their health, well being and quality of life. It is available to all full time and part time staff and faculty.
ACC’s Career Services has a team of professionals dedicated to guiding individuals toward a successful career. Employees can also take advantage of these services to explore career options or seek personalized coaching for jobs. They offer strategic guidance, resources, and programs to support career goals and navigate successful career transitions.
