Message from the Chancellor: Caring for One Another & Our Community

Dear Riverbat Family,

This holiday weekend has been marked by devastation and heartbreak across our community. We watched storms and flooding sweep through Central Texas. There’s been unimaginable loss and destruction. Our thoughts are with our neighbors and everyone who’s hurting.

We are grateful that ACC’s campuses were spared, which allows us to turn our full attention to what matters most—supporting our community. There are things we can do to help.

We created a Flood Relief Support web page with resources and a list of ways to get involved with the flood relief efforts.

Support
I want you to know that if you’re directly impacted or struggling with the devastation, you are not alone.

  • Students—if you are struggling in the aftermath of the storm, please talk with your instructors to let them know, and remember that ACC counselors are here to provide support and guidance.
  • Employees—if you need time, talk with your supervisors, and connect with our Employee Assistance Program for counseling support.

Relief Efforts
Many of you have asked, “How can I help?” Over the weekend, our South Austin Campus hosted a donation drive, and today we’re evaluating what more we can do. The College is working with our partners and rescue groups across the area to learn more about how ACC can support the official relief efforts. We’ll share ways you can get involved through the Flood Relief Support page

The days, weeks, and months ahead will continue to present new obstacles for many. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we get through the coming days together. I’m honored to be part of this incredible Riverbat community.

Much love,
russell
