Special Advisor to the Chancellor for Basic Needs Systems

Cara Crowley currently serves as the Special Advisor to the Chancellor for Basic Needs Systems for Austin Community College. She began this role in March 2024 after working for Amarillo College since 2003. 

In her previous role as the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, she focused on leading institution-wide initiatives targeting a systemic approach to poverty; building quality of life for individuals, families, and communities through the power of education; creating a data ecosystem that drives policy and process reformation; and, aligning grant-funded projects to strategic goals/objectives.  

In her career, she has led institution-wide projects addressing general education course redesign efforts; creating an environment that is student-driven and data-informed; and increased federal and state grant funding by 188%. 

Ms. Crowley holds a Master’s in Business Administration (2007) and Master’s in History with a minor in Political Science (1999).
