Message Board Purpose
The Trustee Message Board allows ACC Trustees to communicate and share information with each other between public meetings in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act. Only Trustees and designated administrators have permission to post on the message board.
Framework for workforce program focus

I look forward to Monday's work session on workforce programs, the first of three deep dives on this central function of ACC. Props to the data team for a thoughtful, thoroughly-researched document on the state of labor markets for key programs.
Monday I will have questions about the current bond-financed planning, design, and construction for space and infrastructure for two key programs, nursing and dental hygiene. More so than most, both require specific spaces and investments. I am concerned to hear an update on the administration's plans. I want us to be assured that we are not inadvertently locking ourselves into limited program expansion by the time we do our deep dive on enrollments in April. Both programs have huge, unseen groups of students aspiring to these careers. Given that they offer the highest starting wages of all the careers, this is not surprising. As I expect we will see in April, most of the other programs will have more capacity than demand from current student enrollments. Our challenge in those programs will be to market, recruit, enroll, and love to success. Nursing and dental hygiene currently and historically have much higher student demand than capacity. Loving them to success requires the space planning, construction and investment happening now.
