Message from the Chancellor: An Update on Workday Student Implementation

Dear Colleagues,

As I have gotten to know ACC better during my First 100 Days, I have been struck by how often our processes get in the way of our staff doing our best jobs and our students being as successful as we want them to be.

Our own processes, which we created and control, shouldn’t be this big an impediment. They should make it easier, not harder, for all of us to love our students to success.

I don’t know yet which specific processes need a total rethinking, and which ones just need tweaking, but I do know that we have to figure it out. And that will take some time.

Recognizing this, I have asked our Workday Student team to slow down the current implementation and spend some serious time and effort determining, from a student perspective, what we must change. I am just not comfortable moving our current processes into Workday Student and missing an opportunity to make real improvements for our students. Many of you have heard me bring this up as a possibility in recent meetings. I am ready now to move ahead.

I understand that this will delay the full implementation of Workday Student. We will have to rely on Ellucian Colleague a while longer. That is okay. We will fully implement Workday Student, just a little later than we planned. I believe, and our Workday Student team believes, that this is the decision we must make for our students.

Let’s get our processes right, and not just in Workday Student, but across the board. This has to be a baseline if we are going to make ACC a better place for our staff and a place where we really can love our students to success.

Much Love,
russell
