Message from the Chancellor and Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic & Student Affairs: Go Purple Fridays

Dear Riverbats,

At Austin Community College, we are the proud home of the Riverbats.  We’ve heard from members of the ACC community about starting a new tradition to show our spirit and build a strong sense of community pride for our students and each other.

Starting Friday, July 21, we invite all members of the Riverbat community to join us for “Go Purple Fridays” by wearing your Riverbat purple. Let’s make Fridays ACC’s Spirit Day, a way for faculty, staff, and students to show your pride.

We would like to thank Dr. Nina Almasy, our Health Sciences Dean, who suggested we go purple as another way to create a sense of belonging for students and employees.  The idea was sparked by discussions at last week’s Riverbat Experience: Student Success Summit.  We appreciate this and other ideas to help us connect and build community pride.

Each of you plays an important role in making ACC a welcoming place to learn and work. Thank you for all you do, and Go Purple Friday!

Regards,

Richard M. Rhodes, Ph.D.
