Faculty Advisor FAQs

Who should apply for this work?

Adjunct faculty who want to gain additional skills and experience, support student persistence and retention in a more holistic way, and share their hard-earned wisdom to help our students succeed.

Will they get any training?

Yes. The Assistant Deans for Faculty Advising will provide onboarding, training, and ongoing support.

What is the time commitment?

Faculty Advisors should be prepared to work around 10 hours a week, up to 19 hours a week.

What if I already have another position at the college?

This position is not intended for those with full time positions at the college.  It is an opportunity for adjunct faculty to deepen their knowledge and connection with the college.  If you are working other hourly positions, the total hours worked across all positions must not exceed 19 hours a week.

Do I have to be teaching in the current semester to be a Faculty Advisor?

Ideally, you will have taught or are teaching in the current academic year to be eligible for this position.

How will Faculty Advisors interact with students?

We will do our best to support preferences, whether it’s virtual, face-to-face, or hybrid modalities.

When will the interviewing and hiring take place?

We plan to begin interviews early in the Spring 2023 semester. This opportunity is ongoing, and we will periodically conduct interviews and bring on new hourly faculty advisors.
