Message from the Chancellor: Observing Thanksgiving at ACC

Dear Colleagues,

My first month at ACC has been a journey of listening and learning. I have visited eight campuses and hosted two virtual employee town hall meetings. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you and our college. I see how caring you all are, and I have great hope for our future.

As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to share my appreciation. You hold the power to make ACC a place where everyone feels loved, welcomed, supported, and encouraged to dream big.

As you know, the college will be closed Friday, November 10, in observance of Veterans Day. Later this month we also will close for the Thanksgiving holiday. As a small token of appreciation for your commitment to our students and their success, ACC will start our Thanksgiving holiday a little earlier than usual. The college will close on Wednesday, November 22, at 1 p.m. We will remain closed, as planned, through Sunday, November 26.

I recognize that this may be a challenge for some. To our faculty who may be impacted, I hope this advanced notice helps you prepare. To our hourly employees, please know that if you were scheduled to work that Wednesday afternoon, you will still get paid for those hours. I hope you can enjoy this extra time to gather with your family, friends, and loved ones and create moments of joy.

When we return, we will continue to connect and build opportunity. I’m proud of how hard we’re working at all the things we’re doing. It’s now time for us to get smarter with how we deploy our work and resources and ensure that everything we’re investing in has an impact that will love our students to success. Our students are our purpose. They’re the reason we come to work every day.

Thank you, again, for all you do. I hope you enjoy your well-deserved time off. Happy Thanksgiving.

Much Love,
Russell
