Hourly faculty advisors may work up to 19 hours per week.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Job Summary<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hourly faculty advisors will complete the necessary initial and ongoing training required to provide appropriate advising to targeted students within assigned areas to increase student retention, persistence, completion, and transfer\/transition.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Principal Responsibilities and Duties<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. At the direction of the Assistant Dean in conjunction with the instructional dean, the hourly faculty advisor will:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assist assigned students to navigate degree programs and engage with students in regular review of degree plan progress.<\/li>\n<li>Work with assigned students to initiate reasonable and appropriate course substitutions, serving as the point of contact between the student and the department chair.<\/li>\n<li>Support students in gaining knowledge of career options as well as appropriate programs and majors here at ACC.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in both initial (upon hire) and ongoing training related to faculty advising.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain appropriate records and documentation of advising work (recommendations, interventions, etc.) in the district\u2019s information management platforms.<\/li>\n<li>Reply to emails and messages in a timely manner to assist students with course and program selection, schedule development, course substitution requests, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain expert advising knowledge of assigned degree plans.<\/li>\n<li>Engage in and document appropriate communication protocols (as determined by the Assistant Dean for Faculty Advising) with assigned students in the district\u2019s information management platforms.<\/li>\n<li>Gather data and prepare reports on students and advising activities as required by the supervisor and\/or other leadership.<\/li>\n<li>Connect assigned students to student support services and other campus resources as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the annual evaluation process that is developed for hourly faculty advisors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reports to: Assistant Dean for Faculty AdvisingJob Series\/Job Family: Faculty Series\/Faculty FamilyFLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly position)Eligibility: This position is available to current adjunct faculty.
