TRHT Campus Centers are part of a multi-year initiative to educate, prepare, and inspire the next generation of leaders to break down racial hierarchies. The only Texas institution and only community college on the list, ACC was selected through a competitive process in which institutions submitted plans to create positive narratives about race, identify and examine current realities of race relations in their communities, and pinpoint levers for change.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/acc-named-truth-racial-healing-transformation-campus-center\/\" target=\"_blank\">Read More&nbsp;\u00bb<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Department of Education Upward Bound Grants<\/h3>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/institutional-effectiveness-and-grant-development\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2022\/12\/image-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-249\" width=\"314\" height=\"136\" srcset=\"https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/institutional-effectiveness-and-grant-development\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2022\/12\/image-2.png 685w, https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/institutional-effectiveness-and-grant-development\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2022\/12\/image-2-300x130.png 300w, https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/institutional-effectiveness-and-grant-development\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2022\/12\/image-2-150x65.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 314px) 100vw, 314px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Department of Education awarded ACC, in partnership with Austin Independent School District (AISD), two, five-year $1.2 million Upward Bound grants.&nbsp;Upward Bound is a federal program whose goal is to provide year-round, pre-college programming \u2013 such as tutoring, counseling, mentoring, financial literacy, and work-study opportunities \u2013 to increase underrepresented high school students\u2019 postsecondary enrollment. ACC\u2019s Upward Bound program will serve AISD\u2019s Reagan and Travis Early College High Schools. High school student recruitment and programming for students in grades 9-12 began&nbsp;September 1, 2017.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">U.S.D.A. Hispanic Serving Institutions Education Grants Program<\/h3>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/institutional-effectiveness-and-grant-development\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2022\/12\/image-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-250\" width=\"370\" height=\"95\" srcset=\"https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/institutional-effectiveness-and-grant-development\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2022\/12\/image-3.png 657w, https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/institutional-effectiveness-and-grant-development\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2022\/12\/image-3-300x77.png 300w, https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/institutional-effectiveness-and-grant-development\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2022\/12\/image-3-150x38.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 370px) 100vw, 370px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>ACC received a Hispanic Serving Institutions Education Grant from the USDA (U.S Department of Agriculture \u2013 National Institute of Food and Agriculture) to develop an associate of science (AS) degree program in Agriculture and an Associate of Applied Sciences (AAS) degree in Sustainable Agriculture to increase access to Agricultural Sciences careers for underrepresented students in Central Texas.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trellis Foundation<\/h3>\n<p>ACC received a Trellis Foundation Mental Health and Wellbeing grant to fund the<br \/>ACC Holistic Health Ecosystem for Marginalized Students (HHEMS). ACC will partner with community organizations to promote existing counseling services, provide holistic health resources, and connect underserved students, particularly uninsured and underinsured BIPOC men, to mental health evaluations to ensure they have access to the wellness tools they need to complete their degree program and access continuous care.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Department of Education Talent Search<\/h3>\n<p>ACC received an $1.1 million Department of Education Talent Search grant. The project titled<br \/>Rise to Success will serve 500 eligible 6th-12th grade students and adults ages 18-27<br \/>who reside within a 9-zip-code target area in inner-city East Austin. The project will<br \/>provide comprehensive services to students including tutoring and prescribed tutoring<br \/>plans; academic and college readiness instruction; a full-time director and two full-time<br \/>advisors for advice and assistance with course selection, continuous monitoring of<br \/>academic progress, assistance in re-entering high school\/charter schools\/GED<br \/>programs and help with college admissions; college entrance exam preparation;<br \/>assistance with financial aid, college admissions and scholarship applications;<br \/>education in financial aid\/financial literacy; mentoring; career exploration; field<br \/>trips\/college campus visits\/cultural trips; and educational workshops for participants and<br \/>their families that cover financial aid\/literacy and how to access higher education.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Department of Education Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS)<\/h3>\n<p>The Department of Education Awarded ACC an $4,000,000 Child Care Access Means<br \/>Parents in School (CCAMPIS) grant. The program titled, Austin Community College Child Care<br \/>Access Means Parents in School (ACCAMPIS), will increase the number of scheduled on-<br \/>campus child care spaces by ~14%, and add 3 free \u201cdrop-in\u201d spaces each evening classes are<br \/>meet. On-campus day and evening care will be provided at ACC\u2019s NAEYC-accredited<br \/>Children\u2019s Lab School. The project will also provide childcare scholarships to 30 ACCAMPIS<br \/>participants to support their purchase of high-quality full- or part-time child care in their<br \/>neighborhoods, near ACC\u2019s campuses, or near their work. Additionally, it will provide<br \/>participants with access to a comprehensive range of robust wrap-around services delivered by<br \/>master\u2019s level Student Advocates, including assistance finding and contracting for accessible,<br \/>affordable childcare. The project integrates an innovative sliding scale fee that requires student<br \/>parents to pay only 2% of their incomes for the on-campus day program and to community-<br \/>based providers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ACC&#8217;s Grant Development &amp; Compliance Department pursues resources that support the college&#8217;s mission.
