No law enforcement experience is required. Selected Cadets will continue receiving a salary during their training and will earn a full-time entry-level salary for Police Cadets upon successful completion.<\/p>\n<p>In return, the Cadets will commit to spending at least two years as a full-time officer with ACCDPD. <\/p>\n<p>Interested employees can review details of the program in the Q-and-A below and then apply<a href=\"https:\/\/www.myworkday.com\/austincc\/d\/task\/3005$4482.htmld\"> here<\/a> beginning Tuesday, September 3, 2024.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAt ACC, this job is more about customer service than it is law enforcement,\u201d ACCDPD Chief Lynn Dixon said. \u201cWe love engaging with students and employees, and I think the feeling is mutual. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who wants to grow their career at ACC.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">Who is this program for?<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All active ACC employees &#8212; staff, faculty, adjunct, and hourly &#8212; are eligible for the program. <\/li>\n<li>The Police Cadet position is for entry-level applicants interested in starting a new career in Law Enforcement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">What are the requirements of the program?<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Under supervision, Police Cadets attend and pass an approved Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) basic peace officer course (BPOC academy), participates in intensive classroom instruction programs and practical exercises.<\/li>\n<li>Candidates must pass the State of Texas peace officer licensing exam within three attempts.<\/li>\n<li>Upon successful completion, Cadets will work a schedule as assigned by the Austin Community College District Police Department<\/li>\n<li>New Cadets must commit to at least two years on the ACCDPD.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">What qualifications do I need to apply?<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No previous law enforcement experience required.<\/li>\n<li>High school diploma or educational equivalent per TCOLE standards.<\/li>\n<li>Must be 21 years of age or older and a U.S. Citizen.<\/li>\n<li>Must possess or be able to obtain a Texas driver license for vehicle operation by the time of hire and must be able to be approved as a vehicle operator by the College.<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to qualify, and maintain proficiency, with all firearms approved for use by the ACCDPD to include any weapons platforms deployed for instruction by the approved police academy.<\/li>\n<li>Must pass a pre-employment physical and psychological exam, as well as a drug screen.<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to lift objects up to 80 pounds.<\/li>\n<li><em>See<a href=\"https:\/\/www.myworkday.com\/austincc\/d\/task\/3005$4482.htmld\"> job application <\/a>for additional requirements.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">How much does the training program cost?<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ACC covers the cost of the Police Cadet Training Academy<\/li>\n<li>ACC&#8217;s sponsorship includes books, uniforms, and materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">What is the salary?<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>During the 6- to 8-month training academy, Cadets will receive up to 75% of the salary paid to entry-level officers (Minimum: $47,840). <\/li>\n<li>Upon successfully completing the academy, passing a licensing exam, and being commissioned by the Chief, cadets will be paid 100% of pay grade 121, ($56,919 for FY25)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">When does the program start?<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The first session of the Police Cadet Academy is expected to start in December 2024.<\/li>\n<li>The program will continue indefinitely as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">Which campus will I be assigned to?<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>New officers may be assigned to any of ACC&#8217;s campuses\/properties to meet current needs of the department.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">Who can I call for more information?<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\">\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Sgt.
