{"id":118,"date":"2022-09-30T16:45:28","date_gmt":"2022-09-30T16:45:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/human-resources\/?page_id=118"},"modified":"2024-06-05T18:57:54","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T18:57:54","slug":"teacher-retirement-system-of-texas-trs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/human-resources\/teacher-retirement-system-of-texas-trs\/","title":{"rendered":"Mandatory Retirement Programs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Because Austin Community College does not participate in Social Security, the Omnibus Revenue Reconciliation Act of 1990 required the College to enroll all employees in a qualified retirement program effective January 1,1992.<\/p>\n<p>ACC has three mandatory retirement plans. Employees working less than half-time (&lt;20 hours\/week) are enrolled in the <strong>ACC Money Purchase Plan<\/strong>. Full-time and part-time staff working half-time or more (20+ hours\/week) whose assignments are expected to last at least 4.5 months are enrolled in the <strong>Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS)<\/strong> on their first day of employment. Full-time faculty and certain administrators are also eligible to enroll in the <strong>Optional Retirement Program (ORP)<\/strong> in lieu of TRS.
