Because Austin Community College does not participate in Social Security, the Omnibus Revenue Reconciliation Act of 1990 required the College to enroll all employees in a qualified retirement program effective January 1,1992.<\/p>\n
ACC has three mandatory retirement plans. Employees working less than half-time (<20 hours\/week) are enrolled in the ACC Money Purchase Plan<\/strong>. Full-time and part-time staff working half-time or more (20+ hours\/week) whose assignments are expected to last at least 4.5 months are enrolled in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS)<\/strong> on their first day of employment. Full-time faculty and certain administrators are also eligible to enroll in the Optional Retirement Program (ORP)<\/strong> in lieu of TRS.
