A Season of Gratitude and Growth: Reflecting on a Year of Progress and Partnership

As Thanksgiving approaches, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your patience, support, and contributions throughout this year of growth and rebuilding. Your dedication and collaboration inspire us daily, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to work alongside you to advance ACC’s mission.

Last year, HR focused on “putting on our own oxygen mask first” by ensuring we were fully staffed to support the College’s needs. This year, our work has centered on three key priorities: operational excellence, transparency, and relationship building across the district and at all levels. These objectives have shaped the initiatives we’ve launched and the progress we’ve made together:

Operational Excellence

  • Compensation & Classification Study: This comprehensive review, led by Guidehouse, is helping us ensure fairness, consistency, and equity in staff roles and compensation. Thanks to your engagement, over 50% of staff completed the survey—an incredible result! More updates will be shared in December.
  • Recruit to Hire Strike Team: Focused on streamlining hiring processes, this initiative is helping us attract and onboard talent more efficiently and effectively.
  • Upcoming Enhancements: Look forward to improvements to our website, Workday support, training offerings, and HR policies and procedures to better serve your needs.

Transparency

  • Open Communication: This year we launched the newsletter and monthly “Ask Me Anything” sessions. 
  • Personal Touch: Soon we’ll bring digestible updates via Instagram and Facebook; w’re working to keep you informed and engaged.
  • Feedback-Driven Improvements: Your suggestions and feedback are vital to us, especially when we know you’ve seen positive changes or have an idea for a process we can improve.

Relationship Building

  • HR Business Partners: We’ve introduced HR Business Partners on every campus to provide localized support and strengthen connections.
  • Employee Engagement: Collaborating with you, we’ve partnered on Employee Mixers and are excited to soon introduce Employee Networks to build stronger communities across ACC.

Your collaboration, trust, and patience as we work to rebuild and improve processes have been invaluable. Together, we’re creating a more mission-aligned, supportive workplace where every employee feels valued.
