Please take care. <\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n April 29: Denim Day<\/a><\/p> The Denim Day campaign is a global movement created in response to a 1990s Italian Supreme Court ruling that overturned a rape conviction because the victim wore tight jeans, implying her “consent.” In protest, people wear denim on the last Wednesday of April to challenge victim-blaming myths and to support survivors of sexual violence. Riverbats are encouraged to participate by wearing denim on Wednesday, April 29th and using #RiverbatsInDenim to show their support!<\/p>\n <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n Spring Break Survival, Heart to Heart, Sexucation Sexsion<\/a><\/p> This event led by the ACC Police is a great way to connect with trusted community partners to get tips and resources on having a safe and healthy spring break! Respect Consent!<\/strong> <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n 2025 Events & Awareness Programs<\/a><\/p> MachisNO: A Conversation About Male Expectations invited an engaging discussion with our guest speakers, Dr. Willie Martinez (AVC of Student Engagement & Academic Success) and Jose Resendez (Regional Director, Learning Support Services), as they shared their experiences with machismo expectations and their insights on its links to domestic violence.<\/p>\n Dr. Manuel Zamarripa (Dean of Mental Health Counseling) and Dr. Gary Moreno (Director of the Latin American Cultural Center) guided the session, exploring the historical roots of machismo and discussing ways to challenge and change harmful stereotypes.<\/p>\n Attendees had the opportunity to learn, engage, and rethink perceptions.<\/p>\n ACC Mental Health Counselors led an Active Bystander training on identifying and safely responding to situations of domestic and dating violence, and discover the resources available to support effective intervention.<\/p>\n Participants joined an open and honest conversation about relationship dynamics, focusing on how to recognize both obvious and subtle red flags. The discussion offered practical tools and strategies for addressing unhealthy behaviors and promoting respectful, positive relationships. Attendees left feeling more empowered to support themselves and others in building healthier connections.<\/p>\n The Sixth Annual Sexucation Sexsion was hosted by ACC’s Ascender Program and featured an opportunity to learn, connect, and enjoy some pizza while engaging in meaningful conversations. Students engaged in a empowering and informative session where professionals covered topics like Asking for Consent, Title IX rights, Psychology of Sex, STI prevention, and more!<\/strong><\/p>\n Riverbats showed up at the Spring Break Pre-Game!
