{"id":67,"date":"2023-05-15T17:50:19","date_gmt":"2023-05-15T17:50:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/equal-opportunity-compliance\/?page_id=67"},"modified":"2025-06-06T18:07:59","modified_gmt":"2025-06-06T18:07:59","slug":"title-ix-employee-reporting-requirements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/equal-opportunity-compliance\/title-ix-sexual-misconduct\/title-ix-employee-reporting-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"Title IX: Employee Reporting Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Must Report<\/h3>\n<p>All ACC employees, except designated <em>confidential employees<\/em>, are considered <strong>Responsible Employees<\/strong>.\u00a0 This designation mandates that, during the course and scope of your job, if you <strong>witness<\/strong> or <strong>receive information<\/strong> about incidents involving current or former students or employees, you must report the information within one business day to the District Title IX Coordinator.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Must Be Reported<\/h2>\n<p>Incidents that must be reported include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Discrimination<\/li>\n<li>Sexual harassment<\/li>\n<li>Gender-based harassment<\/li>\n<li>Sexual assault<\/li>\n<li>Dating or domestic violence<\/li>\n<li>Stalking<\/li>\n<li>Sexual exploitation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If known, reports should include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Names of those involved<\/li>\n<li>Where the incident happened<\/li>\n<li>When it happened (date or time)<\/li>\n<li>Any additional relevant information you received<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong> You do not need to investigate or ask follow-up questions. Simply report what you learned to the Equal Opportunity Compliance Office.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When to Report<\/h3>\n<p>Reports must be made promptly, defined by ACC as within one business day of becoming aware of the incident, <strong>regardless of when or where<\/strong> the incident occurred.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Confidentiality Exceptions<\/h3>\n<p>Even if someone requests confidentiality, Responsible Employees are still required to report under law and college policy.<\/p>\n<p>Exceptions:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If <em>you<\/em> are the victim, you are not required to report.<\/li>\n<li>If you learn of an incident at a <strong>public awareness event<\/strong> (e.g., designated education event on campus), you are not required to report. Please note that employees with actual knowledge (e.g., an administrator), <strong>must report<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Reporting Matters<\/h3>\n<p>Responding helps ACC:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Respond quickly to support individuals<\/li>\n<li>Take corrective action and prevent further harm<\/li>\n<li>Stay compliant with state and federal laws<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our civil rights investigators respect each person&#8217;s autonomy and will not pressure anyone to take actions beyond their comfort level. If someone expresses hesitation in seeking assistance or fears for their safety, please include this information in your report.
