ACC is committed to becoming a leader in sustainability. That means using less energy and fewer resources while minimizing waste. ACC\u2019s Office of Energy & Sustainability hosts sustainable initiatives designed to shrink the college\u2019s ecological footprint and increase environmental awareness. Austin Community College District has set the goal of becoming a Zero Waste by 2040 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050 while continuing to meet the demand for ACC programs and services.<\/p>\n
In 2009, the ACC Board of Trustees created a blueprint for implementing sustainability reforms collegewide through the Sustainable Practices Board Policy<\/a> and the Sustainable Construction and College Operations Guidelines\/Procedures<\/a>. That same year, ACC joined the American College and University Presidents\u2019 Climate Commitment (ACUPCC, now Carbon Commitment). By signing the pledge, ACC agreed to take actions to move the college toward climate neutrality.
