Emergency Response Protocols<\/strong><\/p>\n

Austin Community College District(ACC) has adopted a new Standard Response Protocol (SRP) to standardize our communication and response during emergencies. The SRP enhances our emergency procedures by providing clear, consistent language and actions that students, faculty, staff, and first responders can easily understand and apply in any crisis. <\/p>\n

By following the SRP actions\u2014HOLD, SECURE, LOCKDOWN, EVACUATE, and SHELTER\u2014the entire campus community can make informed decisions to ensure safety during emergencies.<\/p>\n

Incident Responses:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

1. Hold (\u201cIn Your Room or Area\u201d)<\/strong>
<\/strong>Action:<\/strong> Stay in place, clear hallways.
Purpose:<\/strong> Resolve issues in the hallways safely.<\/p>\n

2. Secure (\u201cLockout \u2013 Secure the Perimeter\u201d)<\/strong>
<\/strong>Action:<\/strong> Move inside, secure doors, continue normal activities.
Purpose:<\/strong> Keep threats outside the building.<\/p>\n

3. Lockdown (\u201cLocks, Lights, Out of Sight\u201d)<\/strong>
<\/strong>Action:<\/strong> Lock doors, turn off lights, stay silent, hide out of sight.
Purpose:<\/strong> Protect from internal threats.<\/p>\n

4. Evacuate (To a specified location)<\/strong>
<\/strong>Action:<\/strong> Follow instructions to leave the area safely.
Purpose:<\/strong> Move to a safe location away from danger.<\/p>\n

5. Shelter (For hazards)<\/strong>
<\/strong>Action:<\/strong> Follow specific instructions (e.g., tornado, hazardous materials).
Purpose:<\/strong> Ensure safety during environmental hazards.<\/p>\n

2. Secure (Lockout)<\/strong>

ACC Emergency Alert: [Campus] LOCKOUT. Secure the perimeter. All exterior doors locked. Remain inside. Campus operations continue. More info soon.<\/p>\n

3. Lockdown<\/strong>
Message:<\/strong>
ACC Emergency Alert: [Campus] LOCKDOWN. Locks, lights, out of sight. Move away from windows. Stay silent and hidden. Do not open doors. Await instructions.<\/p>\n

4. Evacuate<\/strong>
Message:<\/strong>
ACC Emergency Alert: [Campus] EVACUATE. Follow directions to exit. Take belongings if safe. Move to specified location. More info to follow.<\/p>\n

5. Shelter<\/strong>
