Message from the Chancellor: Restructure In Administrative Departments

After thoughtful review of the ACC organizational structure, I am realigning the college’s
administrative divisions. This change will better support our efforts to grow strong partnerships;
expand communication channels; and ensure a safe learning environment for our students,
faculty, and staff.

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Accountability will report to Dr. Charles Cook,
Provost/EVP for Academic Affairs.

To ensure ACC meets the growing needs of the regional workforce, I am creating a new vice
president position to oversee business and industry partnerships and research trends. This office
will report to both the President and Provost.

I am consolidating the divisions of public affairs and campus operations. Dr. Molly Beth Malcolm
will serve as EVP of Campus Operations & Public Affairs. This office will include areas currently
under Community Outreach & Public Affairs as well as campus management; ACC District police;
Clery compliance; environmental, health and safety; quality control and custodial services, and
maintenance of buildings and grounds. A new Vice President of Safety & Operations also will be
hired under this division to foster continuous improvements to campus operations, safety, and
security.

The office of Public Information & College Marketing will expand to include ACC Television under
the leadership of Brette Lea who will assume the role of Vice President. The office will remain
responsible for college communications and marketing and will now also include promotional
programs that raise awareness, engage the community, and showcase ACC programs, services,
and student and faculty work.

Neil Vickers, EVP of Finance & Administration, will continue to lead the areas of Information
Technology, Human Resources, Facilities & Construction, and Business Services. I would like to
thank Neil for serving the college well as EVP of Finance & Administration as well as interim EVP
of Campus Planning & Operations over the past nine months since EVP Ben Ferrell’s retirement.
I am proud of our progress. Thank you for your commitment to our students and mission. I look
forward to another successful year.

Regards,
Richard M. Rhodes, Ph.D.
