Message from the Chancellor: Prohibition Of Sexual Discrimination or Sexual Violence or Sexual Harassment

Austin Community College works hard to maintain a positive learning and work
environment. As a college, we remain firmly committed to zero tolerance for any type of
sexual misconduct that interrupts a person’s ability to thrive in a productive setting. We
have taken an important step to update ACC’s sexual misconduct policy to include
relationships between individuals who have a power differential.

The policy, “Prohibition of Sexual Discrimination or Sexual Violence or Sexual
Harassment,” explicitly prohibits sexual or intimate relationships between students and
their professors, coaches, advisors, employers, supervisors, or other college
employees.

It also prohibits sexual or intimate relationships between college employees and their
supervisors.

Please familiarize yourself with the updated policy. It is found in our online ACC
Catalog
, pages 358-382.

The college’s Title IX Coordinator handles policy complaints. The Vice President of
Human Resources will assist when issues involve employees.

For additional information, or to report allegations of sexual misconduct, please contact:

Sincerely,
Richard M. Rhodes, Ph.D.
Chancellor
Austin Community College District
