Message from the Chancellor: New Chief Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Officer

Dear Students, Faculty & Staff,

Austin Community College is pleased to welcome Mr. Larry M. Davis as our new Chief
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Officer (CEDIO) starting in early July.

Mr. Davis has a rich history working with diverse student populations and most recently
served dual roles as Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Student Success at Texas
A&M University-Central Texas (TAMU-CT). In collaboration with faculty, staff, and
administration, Mr. Davis helped TAMU-CT improve its retention rate for transfer
students. By 2019, the Texas Public Higher Education Almanac data indicated that
TAMU-CT had achieved virtual equity in the enrollment and degree attainment ratios of
its African American, Hispanic, International, and White students.

Mr. Davis also has served as a guidance counselor, vocational rehabilitation counselor
and caseworker, retention coordinator, and disability accommodations specialist. He
has a bachelor’s degree in business education/physical education from Baylor
University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Tarleton State
University.

As ACC’s CEDIO, Mr. Davis will serve on the President’s Cabinet, report to the Provost,
and lead initiatives to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in the college’s
instructional and student affairs. He also will work closely to build and expand
connections with our community through close collaboration with ACC’s Truth, Racial
Healing & Transformation Campus Center.

Mr. Davis’ selection is the result of a thorough nationwide search, and we thank the
committee members who contributed their time and insights to this process. We are
confident that we can move forward together to close equity and success gaps and
ensure equal access to a quality education and opportunity for all Central Texans.

We hope you will join us in welcoming Mr. Davis to the Riverbat family.

Regards,

Richard M. Rhodes, Ph.D.
Chancellor
